Common Carpet Cleaning Mistakes

December 26, 2016 By cleanpros

deep carpet cleaningEveryone who has a carpet vacuums it. That’s common sense. But when it comes to a more detailed cleaning, getting those tough stains out and removing sunk-in odors, some people can make things worse.

Here are some common cleaning problems Clean Pros Carpet Cleaning sees.

OVER WETTING

Some people think they can just shampoo the carpet and then run the same machine over it to remove the water. Sure you could rent a machine from a department store but what these machines will not do is remove enough of the moisture. Water sinks deep into the carpet. The store-rental machine is not powerful enough to pull water from the base of the carpet.

That leftover water is enough for mold and mildew to set up. In addition to causing allergy problems and foul smells, these molds can destroy your carpet. If you do this often enough, the water can even seep down and allow mold to start growing in the subfloor. Then you are really looking at a repair expense.

Clean Pros Carpet Cleaning has truck-mounted equipment that pulls out so much water that mold and mildew don’t have enough moisture to start growing.

RIPPLES

Ripples are most often cause by incorrect carpet installation. The carpet is not stretched properly. If the carpet is right on the border of being stretched enough and not stretched enough, then a deep carpet cleaning can cause rippling. Clean Pros knows how to work around carpet that’s not installed exactly right to prevent rippling.

If we see rippling beginning, we’ll tell you. Then you can decide what to do about it.

BROWNING

Carpet Browning turns a carpet brown or yellow. Some stains can also cause discoloration, but this is not the same thing.

Carpet browning is caused by wicking. It’s caused when the carpet gets wet. Moisture seeps to the bottom of the carpet and then migrates back up, taking stains with it. Sometimes those stains are found in the carpet backing and sometimes it is stains that were never properly removed. Either way, the problem is caused by improper cleaning.

Clean Pros Carpet Cleaning can stop carpet browning and in some cases reverse the discoloration.

If you are experiencing these problems or you’re worried your carpet may being suffering from these, call Clean Pros Carpet Cleaning today for an evaluation.

Stain Protectants – Are they worth it?

November 19, 2016 By cleanpros

Stain ProtectansThe most common name people hear in fabric protectants is Scotchgard. There are other products as well such as Stainguard, Teflon and the like. What they do and how they work is a mystery to many people, so here is a quick primer on these products.

Protectants have a special ability to stick to the fiber, and this can be on a carpet or upholstery. Consider it like a soft coating like plastic, but you don’t necessarily feel it. This is done out of necessity because no one wants to change the feel of a leather couch or cherished lounge chair.

The only drawback to these products is since they sit on the surface, they will eventually fade and need to be reapplied.

Most think that once applied, the surface can take almost anything thrown at it, but this is not the case. Only a hard finish, like a plastic will provide almost 100 percent protection.

Protectants work by bonding to the fiber’s surface on a molecular level. It dries. Spills and stains will now resist liquids to a large degree. This gives the owner time to blot up the spill before it sets. Even with the best protectant, it will still stain if not taken care of quickly.

It is important to consider that all liquids are different and may or may not bead on the surface of the upholstery. Temperature, content and fiber all make a difference in the effectiveness of the protectant. Synthetics, for example, will often stain even with protectant applied.

Another positive element of the protectant is it protects the furniture itself. Rather than wearing out the surface fibers, you are wearing down the protectant first; so proper and regular applications are recommended.

Finally, there are plenty of protectants for the homeowner, but these lack the protection of professional and commercial grade products. If you are curious about how you can better protect your furniture or carpet, call us at Clean Pros Carpet Cleaning. We can help you make the best decisions about your carpet and upholstery.

October 25, 2016 By cleanpros

When you call Clean Pros to come clean your carpet, there are a few things that you can do to make the work easier carpet-cleaning-knoxvilleand give yourself some peace of mind.

VACUUM

Yes, we’re coming to do a deep cleaning on your carpet. We can even vacuum the carpet for you. But we find a lot of people want to run their vacuum over the carpet before we get there. This is really up to you.

MOVE FRAGILE ITEMS

Small porcelain items, china, collectibles and other valuable or important items should be moved. These things are important to you and you should need to be the one who handles them. Put them in a safe area. When we’re finished cleaning, you can move them back. We’d rather not handle these items.

We also recommend you move any valuables and fragile items from the rooms to be cleaned. Put them in a room not being cleaned. We can move them but we really prefer you do this. You can leave moving the large items to us.

MOVE SMALL FLOOR ITEMS

We’ll take care of the big furniture. You can move the small items. If you have floor length drapes, curtains of bedspreads, take clothespins and pin them up, well off the floor.

GIVE US ROOM

Clean Pros uses truck-mounted carpet cleaning equipment. We need to park as close as possible to the room or rooms to be cleaned. Please, give us the space we need. It helps us if we don’t have to work around your vehicles. Also, we don’t want to have to pull equipment across your yard and flowers.

TELL US ABOUT IT

If you have areas of particular concern, tell the Clean Pros crew when they get to your house. They’ll put the necessary attention on those areas to get them as clean as possible.

LEAVE IT TO US

Once everything is ready and we’re there to clean, you can leave if you’d like. We’ll give you an idea how long it will take. That way you can be back just about the time we’re done. Having Clean Pros Carpet Cleaning come clean your carpets is a great chance to get out of the house for a little while to run errands or do something for yourself.

Get a Deep Clean with Truck-Mounted Equipment

September 30, 2016 By cleanpros

truck-mounted equipmentWhen your carpet needs the deepest cleaning possible, only truck-mounted steam cleaning, otherwise known as hot water extraction, will do the job.

Here are a few reasons why it’s the best system to use.

Efficient

Clean Pros Carpet Cleaning uses truck mounted equipment because it works better than any other system. The vacuum is much stronger than anything else available. It pulls more dirt, debris, allergens and moisture out of your carpet than anything else. Rental units from department stores can’t come close.

Reliable

It is professional grade equipment that gets serviced regularly. When we show up at your house to clean your carpets, you can guarantee that your carpet will look like new. Some carpet warranties actually require that your carpets be professionally steam cleaned on a regular basis.

Deep

Part of the cleaning system “shoots” steaming hot water into your carpet. This loosens stains, frees trapped dirt and more. You may be thinking that any carpet cleaning machine can do this but what makes the Clean Pros unit different is our system goes deeper. We reach the very bottom of the carpet, not just the top layer.

Less Moisture

How much moisture is left in the carpet is a critical matter. Rental carpet cleaning units leave enough water for mold and mildew to start growing. That’s a health hazard for your family. Clean Pros Carpet Cleaning equipment pulls out much more water. What little bit is left dries so quickly that the bad stuff doesn’t have time to get a foothold.

We Lift

When you call Clean Pros Carpet Cleaning to clean your carpets, we do the heavy lifting. We move furniture out of the way and then we move it back when we are finished. That saves your back.

If you want to know more about deep cleaning your carpet just give us a call. We’ll be glad to give you a free estimate.

Carpet Cleaning: A Deeper Look

August 5, 2016 By cleanpros

Knoxville fast carpet cleaning serviceThank you for visiting Clean Pros Carpet Cleaning. Many are not sure what happens before, during and after a thorough carpet cleaning, so this blog will address those questions. Remember – we are always ready and willing to take any questions you may have about carpet and carpet cleaning. Just let us know!

ESTIMATE
All carpet cleaning starts with an estimate. We come to the residence and visually inspect your carpet. We are looking for spots, conditions and issues. We also ask about chemicals for personal and sensitivities. All special care spots will be noted.

VACUUM
Your residential vacuum cleaner is perfect for regular cleaning, but for a professional cleaning, it is not adequate. Our commercial cleaning equipment and vacuum get the loose dirt and debris a home vacuum cannot. The more we can pull from the subfloor means the better ultimate cleaning.

PRE-CONDITION
Soil and debris lie very close to the subfloor, and this requires treatment to pull it up and out. Preconditioning in conjunction with water treatment is key in order to achieve the optimal results.

CLEANING
The hot water system of our professional equipment blasts a jet of water into the carpet that breaks up the remaining soil and debris before sucking it back into the containment system in our vans.

FURNITURE
Areas under furniture are particularly prone to dirt and dust. We will move furniture out of the way to clean. The furniture will be returned to its same location when we are finished. Breakables and plants should be moved before we come. Certain items, such as pianos and electronics, will remain since these items generally require trained professionals to handle them.

GROOM
The last thing that we will do is leave your carpet in neat and uniform appearance. This means the traffic patterns that are normally found in carpet. Moving furniture on a regular basis actually helps prevent traffic spots.

We at Clean Pros Carpet Care look forward to helping you with your carpet and carpet cleaning. If your carpet is looking rough, has spots or you are looking to sell, cleaning carpet is the best decision you can make. Call us today for a free, in home estimate.

Clean Pros Carpet Cleaning in Knoxville is the number one choice for all your carpet cleaning needs. Call (865) 255-9692 to schedule an appointment.
